WELCOME

Hello and welcome to the ISN Middle School Science blog!  This blog will be used to keep LPs and parents informed of the various science lessons, projects, and assignments going on in the Middle School.  Please visit the individual class links (MS 1-4 Science) under ‘Categories’ for posts pertaining solely to your class.

The ISN Middle School offers a Combined Science curriculum for MS 1 and MS 2.  Thus each year MS 1 & 2 LPs will study some biology, some chemistry, and some physics.  Although these branches of science are distinctly separate, we will integrate the three in the lessons as is natural and appropriate.  MS 3 will study biology this year, and MS 4/5 will complete their study of chemistry and then finish off the year with Physics, in preparation for the IGCSE exams in May-June.

I would like to invite all LPS and parents to share any ideas, links, and pictures, as they relate to science, to this blog.  We have already had a productive start to the new school year, and I look forward to a wonderful year!

SCIENCE ASSESSMENT CALENDAR

Just a reminder that you can view dates for all upcoming MS assessments and major deadlines using the online calendar.

Each MS Science class will have approximately 5 unit tests throughout the semester, as well as a comprehensive final exam in December.  Tentative dates for these assessments will be published on the calendar.  These are intended to give you a look ahead at big deadlines and help you to manage your study time.  However please note that these dates are tentative and that if necessary they may be changed.  For example, if it is deemed necessary to spend an extra day completing a lesson or lab or reviewing learned material, I may push the date back.
